McCoy "Edgewater"

Paper Collage by Gail McCoy of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.

Piece measures 6"x6"x1.5"

"My collages are created from pages from National Geographic magazines using an innovative process. I move the ink with a citrus solvent. What was a realistic photo now becomes abstracted patterns of color. I sort through hundreds of this altered pages to find the proper effects for a particular piece. The cranes, moons and grasses are cut from the same pages. Next, I paint acid free tissue paper with watercolor and matte medium. I cut and tear horizon lines and sky flecks from the enhanced tissue. All is coated with matte medium and sprayed with UV protectant adding water resistance."
